The Overseas Adopted Children

From the video and the subsequent article, we can know the story about two adopted children. They are both Chinese and were adopted by a gay family in American. Now they live a happy life in the United States with their stepparents. After I saw the video and the article, I begin to think about this situation. I read similar news one year ago, it was about adopted children from Russia. The news said that some foreigners adopted Russian children and treated them badly, so the Russian government made a lot of strict rules for the adoption which happens overseas to protect Russian children. 

The issue that children can't live with their biology parents can cause a series of problems. For example, the children don't accept their stepparents as their real parents, and the stepparents could not treat these children well. And there are some other social problems such as inheritance of property. Because there is not genetic connection between the stepparents and their children, these problems could be more complicated compared with normal family. Moreover the overseas adoption is more intricate. The parents have to face the racial problems with their children and the children who know they are different from people around them also need effective ways to adapt to this environment. 

Although there are some problems for the overseas adoption, we could not deny that the adoption could help homeless children, provide them with family love and let them grow up like common children. Overseas adoption has another advantage that it could promote national fusion. Different race could live together in the same social environment, so although they have different races, they are sharing the same culture. The common ground could lead them to live peacefully and respectively. With the gradual disappearance of ethnic prejudice, people could be willing to accept other race and the world could be peaceful without  racial discrimination.

To sum up, although there are some disadvantages for overseas adoption, there are also some good features. So overseas adoption should not be prohibited, but in order to protect these adopted children, each government should enact strict laws to avoid vicious adoption. For example, before the adoption, the government should evaluate the family who want to adopt children comprehensively. And after the adoption, the government also has to supervise the family at regular intervals. The government should keep children under their protection before the adoption and after the adoption. In this way, people who have evil idea about adoption will not adopt children and treat them badly. And the social people and organization should also pay much attention to these overseas adopted children and give them more love. For example, our common people should not consider these children as different people compared with us and should treat them equally. And some non-government organization should also play a role to protect these children. I think, if all the social members could play an important part  in safeguarding adopted children, they could live a happy life overseas although they are far away from their motherland.
