Tap Water vs. Bottle Water

By Nana

There is no cast of a doubt on the fact that bottle water is more popular than tap water in the United States. Whether bottle water is healthier than bottle water is a matter of controversy among different people. There are some reasons of both two sides of aforementioned hypothesis.

Some proponents of bottle water contend that drinking bottle water is a healthy lifestyle result of safety and purity. Americans are worried about the effects of chemical pollution and other contaminants on the water supply. Many view bottled water as a safe alternative to tap water. According to the statistics, bottle water sales in the United States rose to 1.7 billion gallons (6.4 billion liters) in 2000 for plastic bottles along, compared to total sales of only 700 million gallons (2.6 billion liters) in 1980.

On the other hand, opponents of bottle water believe that tap water is cleaner than bottle water due to the fact that municipal tap water is often treated with chlorine to guard against harmful microorganisms. People prefer to taste bottle water because there is chlorine in the tap water, and chlorine make tap water taste not good.

In my view, tap water is better for us because bottle label may not tell us everything we want to know but if we can ask for checking if we suspect about the safety of tap water.

Today, many bottle water brands are associated with celebrities and their glamorous lifestyles. Water bottle labels and the shape of the bottles themselves are in the hands of designers and markers. On contrary, how about tap water? Tap water never needs any advertisement because the agency of tap water does not mean to make money and it belongs to the government. Absolutely, the government is responsible for the quality of tap water.
