According to CNN Style, by William Lee Adams, there
are many different kinds of workplaces for their employee’s efficient. Such as
Google, Daum, a Korean IT firm, Amazon has unique offices. Their special
offices are different from now; therefore, some workplaces became famous because
of their uniqueness.
Reasons that there are more changes are because employers
begin to think the relation of employees’ offices and effectiveness and also
when architect designs the places, they think staffs more and make offices to
be comfortable and make them to be back to nature. Architect find out that
sleek and corporate could be source of power and success, but usually employee
feels disconnected from their working environments; therefore, to solve this
problem, architects starts to make the offices to be comfortable, cozy, playful
and organic. For example, Daum headquarters, IT Company in Korea, is places
away from the city to an island off the coast of South Korea; also, Google
where the company wants employees to have more creativity, they change the
environment of offices constantly, like in funky meeting rooms there is rustic
cafeteria, a sleek modern library and rooftop garden with “secret” meeting
spaces. Another example is Amazon. The new building of Amazon show the plans of
eco-friendly, and the building also works as marketing that they are trying for
environment.
After reading this reading article, I had a thought that
the working environment is important and has various effects. Reporter said in
the article, "This (Google) HQ is about humans and the building working
around them, rather than the other way around." The building where people
works, have to be not just building, places that they could be happier and helps
people to have efficient and creativity when they work. Many companies now know
that fact, and try to have unusual building than they had before; for example, Amazon
is killing two birds with one stone by building new work place and that
building made employees to have more productivity to gain more profits and give
customers impression that they think about environments and thinks their employees
a lot. If companies want to have more profits, they have to risk some assets
that they have, and invest. The one of the nice investment place will be to
improve environment for the employees. That will make employees to be
comfortable at workplaces, have more creativity then they will more productivity
than now and will give more profits to the company.
